Partridge Family alum David Cassidy has passed on in the wake of being hospitalized for organ failure. He was 67.
His rep told E! News in an announcement, “On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy. David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years.”
The artist, on-screen character and previous ’70s adolescent symbol is made due by his youngsters, Arrow actress Katie Cassidy, 30; and son Beau Cassidy, 27.
David was hospitalized for kidney and liver failure a week ago, impelling his family to hurry to his side. He needed a liver transplant, TMZ had revealed.
In February, David uncovered he was engaging dementia, saying he saw both his granddad and his mom endure a similar sickness. Dementia patients are more in danger for organ brokenness.
He made his comments days after a video demonstrating him slurring his words, overlooking verses and falling in front of an audience at a show in Los Angeles became famous online. Before he remarked, watchers had estimated that he had tumbled off the wagon, as he had struggled substance mishandle in the past and has been to recovery.
David later uncovered he initially saw indications of his dementia over two years earlier, telling Dr. Phil McGraw, “When friends of yours or family members begin to tell you and say to you—’Remember? I just told you this two days ago?’—and there’s no memory of it, that’s when I began to be very concerned.”
He said that in the wake of seeing his own mom “disappear” to a similar sickness, he told his child, “I want you to promise me you’ll find a way to let me go. Don’t let me live like that.”
David rose to distinction in the mid ’70s with his part as Keith Partridge on the hit TV show The Partridge Family. He performed hits, for example, “I Think I Love You.” Katie released a cover single in 2002.
David showed up in a couple of acting tasks in the course of recent decades. In 2009, he featured on the ABC Family-now-Freeform demonstrate Ruby and the Rockits with his sibling Patrick Cassidy and performing artist Alexa PenaVega. More established sibling and kindred previous ’70s heartthrob Shawn Cassidy co-made the arrangement.
David’s last part is in the new film Forgiven This Gun4hire, a western additionally featuring comic and Baskets star Louie Anderson. It is set for release in May.
