In 1800 the fledgling United States was not really a "blip" on anyone's geopolitical radar screen. By 1900 it had become a geopolitical presence. How and why did this eveolution take place? What Political, socioeconomic and cultural forces interacted and intersected to make the U.S. a world power, despite nearly destroying itslelf during the Cilvil War? Who were the "great figures" in this process and what did they contribute for good or ill? Identify at least 5 events or individuals that were instrumental in this process. If anyone can only tell me why the United States became a world leader between 1800 and 1900, that would be great :)

Alright. I have a fun quiz for all fledgling writers/author wannbe's like myself. I want to know how much you've been studying and researching how to write a book. Have you done any research into it or did you just jump right in? Lets find out. Also, some publishing questions are thrown in. 1) A book should ALWAYS start with action. (ie: a car chase). Yes. No. Shut up heffa, I know what I'm doing. 2) If you want to write a series, it's suggested that book 1 should ALWAYS have a cliffhanger ending. Yes. No. I am the master of cliffhangers! 3) Publishers will only buy a series if all books are complete when you submit them. YES. NO. Ha! I submit incomplete stuff all the time! 4) Publishers will edit all my work, so I don't have to worry about spelling, grammar, plot holes, or factual errors. YES. NO. i dont ned edeting! 5) Agents and publishers require that you copyright your work before you submit to them. YES. NO. 6) You need to copyright your work to make sure the publisher/agent doesn't steal it. HeII, yeah! NO. 7) The first 5-10 pages of your novel should include tension or conflict. YES. NO. What is tension? 8) The difference between Young Adult and Adult is: a) YA has a faster pace; b) Adult tends to be longer; or c) Adult is for smart people. A. A+B. C. C+A. B. B+C. FAIL. 9) All publishers are scum and you should self-publish if you want to be well-known? YES. NO. Thanks for reminding me to clean my bathtub. 10) Your novel should be perfect on the first draft or you're not a good writer? YES. NO. Drafting is for wussies! 11) Publishers require you to prove that you're serious by self-publishing before they pick up your book. YES. NO. Let me look up the definition of Require. 12) Feedback isn't important because most people don't know a good thing when they see it. YES. NO. Just look at Dan Brown and Stephenie Meyer! 13) When writing a query letter, I should remind the agent and publisher that they can't steal my work because it's copyrighted. YES. NO. 14) If an agent rejects my work then I should send them an e-mail telling them they'll regret it. YES. NO. One day, they will. 15) You don't need to read if all you want to do is write a book. Your work is worth $0 unless it's published. This is an amateur mistake and literary theft is RARE. Publishers want to make money, and they don't do it by stealing people's work and they certainly wouldn't still be in business! 7) Yes, you need something to keep the reader's attention. 8) A+B. 9) No. 10) No. 11) No. 12) No, most writers won't recognize all the mistakes in their own work. 13) No. Doing this can get you rejected; it's insulting! 14) No, it wastes their time they might ban your email. 15) No. 16) No. This is different than having typos. 17) --
Writers: What do you know about writing a book and getting published? Quiz!?
Would it be better for them to just go half speed, and learn how a hit feels, learn what combos are effective, and to improve recovery time, as well as counters, after a hit?I ask because, I have trained in Hapkido the past six years. I moved cross country a few months ago, and have been shopping for a new school. Noone here offers Hapkido, so I have been looking at a Krav Maga, a Kenpo, or a Kung Fu school. The cookie cutter TKD schools I dismissed all do point sparring. Just wondering what other people thought about it...
Does point sparring train bad habits into fledgling students?
i saw the parents but the baby was just sitting in the middle of road. its sibling unfortunatley had already been smushed by a car. So i decided to put the little thing in a basket and tack the basket onto the tree. I still see the parents sitting on a nearby roof and earlier i had seen them feed the baby on the floor. I'm worried that the parents dont see the baby because its in a tree and covered by leaves and in a basket. please tell me i did the right thing because i dont want this one to die either. (It is a nestling because the feathers are still just growing in and its a tiny little thing. too small to be a fledgling) Help me please!!!and also the tree i put it in is a shade tree (not sure what species) used in chula vista. Theyre kinda tall and bushy and a bright green. the bird is completely covered is that okay???? I'm sorry but im just so worried
I put a mourning dove nestling in a tree (in a basket) but i'm worried. please help me?

Important things I need to take care of and how I can help it to fly. Seriously need help. I gave it some sesame seeds to eat until I can think of something. Also please tell me something the pigeon can eat without ants getting to the food. I just lost 2 new born rabbits because of ants today. There's no getting rid of them..They are persistent and I'd hate to use pesticide. It could kill the other useful insects and possibly get at my rabbits... Suggestions please. Thank you very muchalso will it be accepted by the pther pigeons nce it is able to be independentHi Charles. Thank you 4 your answer. Well, I helped it to fly. Then I took it to where I found it to set it free and the other pigeons attacked it. So I took it back home. It didn't eat anything you suggested - not that birds don't eat that stuff...just seemed as if it was very sad. and it only drank lots of water. Yest. I set it free near my house and now it lives in the projections in my house. It seems happy.. The neighbours say they saw it many times on our roof. Strange - I need to learn Bird behaviour so I can help them better.
What should I feed an injured fledgling pigeon?
Nightwing's flight began as fledgling darkling thing uprising From the abyss to the midnight sky on the winds of mortal anguish he flies Over the wretched cities lit with neon wreathed with fumes, searching for a sign among the colossal ruins, Nightwing spies a victim, a child who's lost her way; her soul is wracked with torment, but the price is not hers to pay. As for the deal with Faust, which she refused, aghast? Perhaps she should have considered, but now that chance has passed. Nightwing trills a dirge as he descends through predawn skies; she harmonizes perfectly with her screams and, as she cries, her tears fall on the drought-sere lands where gardens will soon grow; but Nightwing's envelops her in his shroud so this, she shall never know. Nightwing steals the innocent of heart, and leaves a futile mark, a garden overgrown with weeds, dying in the dark.L # 24 should be Nightwing envelops
Playing with an idea, will you please give me a full critique?
We always recognise fledglings of starlings, black birds, sparrows and most other garden birds. They sit on the fence calling for food and are slightly lighter or fluffier in appearance from the adult bird. I can honestly say I have never seen, or recognised, a baby pigeon. Could this be because they are so large when they leave the nest that they look like an adult pigeon.
Has anyone seen a baby pigeon?
Since you all seem to be Constitutional scholars you must be acutely aware of the influence Montesquieu and Rousseau had upon James Madison. That France, the progressive leaders of the time, were the first to popularize concepts such as bicameral legislation, 3 part systems of government, private land ownership, government with the consent of the governed. Of course John Locke (British) "the father of modern liberalism" deserves mention as well for his profound contributions. And besides providing the philosophical framework for our Constitution they provided financial aid to this fledgling nation which allowed such radical ideas time to flourish. So I ask you, how much do you epitomize these progressive forefathers of individual liberty? As a side note, did it irritate you when Robert Ney (R-Ohio) and Walter Jones, Jr. (R-North Carolina) had the audacity to whip up all that anti-french sentiment during the lead up to the Iraq war?
Republicans, how grateful are you of 17th century French Philosophers?
The term "Fergie's Fledglings" came back into common usage during the 1995/96 season, after Ferguson had conducted a mass clearout of the Manchester United old guard in order to blood the youngsters coming through. Following a 3-1 opening day away defeat to Aston Villa, pundit Alan Hansen commented on Match of the Day "You'll never win anything with kids" The young side, with an average age of just 24, then went on to overturn Newcastle United's 14-point Christmas lead to win the club's third league title in four years. This was followed up by a 1–0 win over Liverpool in the 1996 FA Cup Final to secure The Double. A period of success followed, punctuated by Arsenal winning the Premier League title in 1998, culminating in the team winning The Treble in 1999.
