NCAA Basketball Tourney Round 1?
I know everybody is like yeah Pittsburgh is going to go all the way and/or make it to the final 4 But I think Pittsburgh is a tad over-rated. Levance Fields is good but not THAT good...for them to win he would have to have around 15 points and 8 assists? (averages about 11 and 8)...11 pts? after all the hype he gets i would expect more pts...but still a solid player Jermaine Dixon can get hot from 3 and occasionally drive but he hasnt had much experience. He would have to have about 12 pts. (avgs 9) Tyrell Biggs is okay but I wouldnt expect a lot from him For them to win he could have about 5 pts? Maybe he will show up big (avgs. 6.9) Sam Young is a great player and can get very hot some times he can definitely be the X factor in this game For a win, I would expect 18-20 pts. 5 Rebs (avgs. 18 and 6) Dejuan Blaire is a beast down low and I would expect, in a win, for him to get about 16 pts. 13 rebs (avgs. about 15 and 12) But there is a VERY likely chance he will be in foul trouble Now Duke... Nolan Smith/Greg Paulus - Solid Duo that can create and bring energy to the court about 17 pts. and 9 between them in win Jon Scheyer can be the best on the court at times and he is lethal when he and I would expect around 15-25 pts. in win Elliot Williams is a great defender and has sparked a charge in Duke He needs to get some boards and play great D for Duke to win Gerald Henderson is a star and can also be the best player on the court I would expect him to have about 15-25 pts. to win Kyle Singler can do everything He is a great defender and can hit it from anywhere In a win I would expect about 15-25 Lance Thomas/David McClure/Brian Zoubek are the primary defense/rebounding unit. Coach K will shuffle them in and out for matchups and combined with the D of Elliot Williams and Kyle Singler, it would be a battle down low. McClure is one of the hardest workers on the team that will get the rebound and it will be nice to see him and Blaire battle it out on the board Those are my keys to winning the game for both teams. - Singler/Scheyer/Henderson each have 15-25 pts because they all can score big and its usually 2 of them that score around 25-30 and the other around 10-15 when the team is hitting on all cilinders - Expect Dejuan Blaire do get whatever he wants for about 10-20 mins of the game (overachieve) and expect him to be about average-below for the rest (Dukes D can be just too much) Direct Matchups: G Levance Fields > Nolan Smith/Greg Paulus G Jermaine Dixon < Jon Scheyer F Tyrell Biggs < Gerald Henderson F Sam Dixon < Kyle Singler (Oh so close!) F Dejuan Blaire > F Lance Thomas (or whoever they put on him) Pitt Bench < Duke Bench - Greg Paulus/Elliot Williams (really a starter)/Brian Zoubek/David David McClure is better than whoever Pitt has Overall if Duke cant hit from the perimeter I would expect a close gm with a Pitt win but I would honestly expect a solid gm for Duke's perimeter game and if they are on fire I would expect a 83- 75 outcome in dukes favor? If they are around medium from 3 point and its a close game that comes down to fatigue, expect duke to win with their superior bench (maybe 73-69)? Maybe this matchup will never happen? Duke = hard time with Villanova/VCU Pitt = hard time with FSU (underrated)/Xavier/Tennessee Expect both of these teams to be ready to go if they face each other and a Great Game! ______________________________________... Some potential games I look forward to: 1 Louisville vs. 4 Wake Forest 3 Kansas vs. 6 West VA 6 West VA vs. 2 Michigan St 1 Louisville/4 Wake Forest vs. Michigan St 10 Maryland vs. 2 Memphis (dont count out UMD) 1 Pitt vs. 4 Xavier/5 FSU 3 Villanova vs. 11 VCU 2 Duke vs. 3 Villanova/11 VCU 4 Xavier vs. 5 FSU 1 UNC vs. 9 Butler 2 Oklahome vs. 3 Syracuse (I like Syracuse but I wouldnt mind OU) I would love to see Duke win but I think Louisville will win it or maybe UNC with a healthy Ty Lawson Your thoughts?
