Though sexual monogamy can hardly seen as a common Western values social mongamy certainly is, with having multiple concurrent spouses being widely socially condemned. What are the origins of this, and how far does it date back?
Where does Western Civilization's distaste for polygamy originate from?
Does Jesus love his dogmatic Christians playing the role of his father by condemning humans?
Seriously, I've seen some older Christians act like this. They'll act like firm believers, judge and condemn people of other religions, but their greatest joy is "when I go to heaven, I'll get everything I want, because I believe in God, and I am a Christian". Why do they think God will allow them to be greedy like that in heaven when they could seriously earn a well-to-do life while they're here on earth and still believe in God, and still hope for all those riches in the afterlife?
Believing and going to heaven for the luxury?
I'm Catholic, I believe going to Church is a great way to communicate to God, and I was taught to respect and appreciate the faiths of others... Based on my experience, some Christians tend to belittle other religions when spreading the Word of God, I understand the need of spreading the Word, but I don't think Jesus meant for us to belittle other religions and say that their religions are inferior, Jesus taught us never to judge and condemn, but to judge and condemn righteously (Matthew 7:1-5 and Luke 6:37-42), and I do not think belittling other religions is righteous, and Jesus taught us in his Parable of the Good Samaritan, to love your neighbor, a neighbor is anyone who is different than yourself, race, color, religion, etc, Jesus teaches us not to discriminate, to belittle other religions is discriminating, I do not think Jesus would like for us to do that, I do not think Jesus meant for us to belittle other religions when spreading his Word...
Why can't Christianity spread the Word without belittling other religions?

Should Turkey Pass a Resolution Condemning the USA?
All the things Christ said and did would make most "Christians" uncomfortable. He called the leaders of a specific ethnic group murderers and liars (John 8:44), demanded hatred (Luke 14:26) and flogged bankers and flipped over their tables. John 8 is an extremely condemning document — at the time it would have been considered worse than anything on ED. Many people were brutally murdered by the Pharisitic establishment over it. The synoptic gospels and the gospel according to John were so revolutionary that no publishing platform would take them. These days most Christians focus on Paul and completely ignore the life and actions of Christ. If Christ were here again today he'd probably start a website and people would be crying for its censorship. (that's "little o" orthodoxy, not the denomination Eastern Orthodox) I know that universalism was condemned as a heresy in the 500s, but should that matter for Protestants since that leaves hundreds of years (including the Early Church years) where universalism wasn't condemned at all, and was in fact decently popular?Univeralism is the belief that all will be saved, at least eventually.I'm talking about Christian universalism, not Unitarian Universalism.
Christians (esp. Protestants), can you be a universalist and still claim to be orthodox (in your opinion)?
Society rightly condemns sex between adults and minors because a minor, by definition, cannot give informed consent. That's the way the laws read and I agree. Sex between one person who can consent and another who cannot is immoral. But wouldn't this make sex between two minors, neither of whom can consent, twice as immoral? Doesn't consistency demand that society proscribe both since the underlying reason is the same in both cases? Not trying to push an agenda here. It's just something that strikes me as insane. As always, thank you for your thoughtful repliesAbout the inequality of power: It is certainly true that this bears on the morality of adult/minor sex. But what, precisely is the nature of this power? Is it not the perceived superior knowledge of the adult? Of course, I'm not talking about the use of physical force or the abuse of vested authority. But it seems the inequality of power stems from the fact that minors cannot think as adults do. Which would still boil down to proscribing underage sexual activity altogether.
