'Italian and Romanian form of LUKE. This name was borne by Luca della Robbia, a Renaissance sculptor from Florence'. http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=luca&nmd=n&gender=both&operator=or Comments? Ratings? {BQ}-(optional)- what do you think of the combination, Luca Maximilian? Thank you!@ Caitlin -- I myself always figured Luca would be too exotic for me to consider using for an Irish boy. Granted, I doubt my children will look typically Irish so that wasn't my particular concern of mine. What sparked my new found interest in the name was that I recently met a little boy named Luca! His brother was named Florence and both of them were very happy, content boys (Irish boys, with Irish parents too!). That surprised me, but it showed me that by the time I have children of my own, worrying about ethnicity of names will be a thing of the past (as long as the name isn't too wrapped into a specific culture). Luca Maximilian is awfully flamboyant. I do agree with the others who stated so. It was worth a shot at asking about lol!
