Jeff Gordon to stay full-time another few years: #24-Jeff Gordon will drive through at least the 2013 season for Hendrick Motorsports, team owner Rick Hendrick said Friday. There has been speculation that Gordon, who has a lifetime deal with HMS, will retire within the next couple of years. The speculation arose in part because of Gordon's back problems and in part because he wants to spend more time with his family. "He's committed to at least 2013, maybe 2014," Hendrick said. "I'm hoping he's going to drive a bunch of more years. We know it's going to be at least three or four." Hendrick said he's also negotiating a new deal with DuPont, the primary sponsor on Gordon's car since he entered the Sprint Cup Series in 1992. DuPont's contract is due to expire in 2010 and Hendrick said the company will remain on the #24 at least for a good portion of the races through the end of Gordon's career
jeff gordon contract extension?
Who thinks Hendrick motorsports and especially Chad Knaus get special treatment from nascar?
I mean seriously, the top 3 in points are Hendrick cars and Jr is out of the chase. His excuse for sucking before was DEI engines and now that hes in the best equipment he has that one lousy win on fuel mileage. Who thinks its time to dump him and sign someone that actually knows how to turn a wheel left?oh so its because hes a cash cow... that makes sense.I guess I would be considered a true nascar fan too because I stood behind Jeff Gordon during his winless year last year and when he didn't make the chase way back when. Don't be mad just because most peope think he doesn't deserve to be in a quality car like a Hendrick machine. I think he would be more comfortable in a Nationwide car for the remainder of his career.lol he just crashed. i just won $50
Why would a great team like Hendrick Motorsports sign a donkey like Dale Jr?
Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s comments at Charlotte that he's at the end of his rope, along with the strong inference by Kevin Harvick that he's leaving Richard Childress Racing at the end of next season. And then, as he put it, Kelly connected the dots and came up with an intriguing possibility: could Harvick's leaving open the door for Earnhardt to leave Hendrick Motorsports and join RCR for 2011? . Think about it: Harvick leaves RCR and Junior arrives, just in time for the 10th anniversary of his late father's death at Daytona International Speedway. What better way for Junior and Childress to make a huge splash than by bringing back the black No. 3 Chevrolet – and for Little E to drive it. “Everybody out there knows that the Childress-Dale Jr. union is NASCAR's missing link, you know, the next big thing, a moon shot for the sport,” Kelly wrote. “It would bring one aspect of NASCAR full circle.” Think a bit more outside of the box and it could make tremendous sense, particularly if Earnhardt struggles with HMS again in 2010. Even though he has a five-year deal with Hendrick that runs through 2012, if the marriage just isn't working – and if it continues to look next year like it never will work – I'm betting Hendrick would cut Junior loose from his contract if he asks. And, even though Earnhardt and Hendrick have had a close relationship for years, it's nowhere near as close as the relationship Junior has had with Childress his entire life, particularly while growing up. Junior thinks of Richard as a second father and Richard thinks of Junior as a son. What better way to welcome the prodigal son back into the family, so to speak, than to put him in his father's old ride? Do you know what such a reunion of sorts would do to NASCAR? The publicity alone would be the biggest and most positive we've seen in many years, even bigger than when Junior announced he was leaving DEI for Hendrick Motorsports. If it were to happen, the Junior Nation would go crazier than it ever has. And can you imagine the tens of millions of dollars that Junior, Childress and Hendrick (certainly, he has to have some kind of cut of the pie if he lets Junior out of his contract) could rake in with souvenir and memorabilia sales from diecasts to jackets, from ball caps to t-shirts. And what about Chevrolet? With all the economic woes it and General Motors have had, this wouldn't be just a home run, it would be the equivalent of 100 grand slams. I can already see thousands of young bucks lining up at their local Chevy dealer to buy an upcoming Dale Earnhardt Jr. model Impala – in all-black, of course. Harvick, from what I've been hearing, has a number of options on the table. He could join Stewart Haas Racing as a third driver (most likely), stays with RCR or starts his own Cup team (both not as likely) or, in a rather interesting twist, would drive for Junior if he decides to start his own Cup operation (remains to be seen). It's not outlandish at all. Junior's father built DEI while racing for RCR. Why can't Junior race for RCR while taking JR Motorsports to the next most logical level: Cup racing?
Dale Earnhardt Jr. to RCR in 2011?

How many years in a row will Hendrick Motorsports dominate NASCAR?
This song was talked about by the family as being perfect for Ricky Hendrick was was killed in 2004 - it was sung by a female and I thought the title was "You Belong in the Sun" - another line was "your day will come". When I checked YouTube there was a song listed like that but the singer was JoDee Messina and it was not the same words or melody. Her's is a rather upbeat tune while the one on the TV documentary was very soft and very slow. HELP???
Looking for a song that was on ABC, 10-11-09 , in a documentary about Hendrick Motorsports family b-4 the race?
48 and #5 cars 'too close' in tolerances at R&D center? UPDATE 2: Claire B. Lang reported on Sirius Satellite NASCAR Radio Channel 128 "Dialed In" show Thursday night that the #48 and #5 Chevy's teams of Hendrick Motorsports were told they cars were too close to NASCAR tolerances at the NASCAR R&D Center in Concord, NC this week. The cars were taken to the R&D Center after Jimmie Johnson won the Sprint Cup race at Dover in the #48 with Mark Martin finishing 2nd in the #5 Chevy. Lang says she heard the teams were told not to bring the cars back to the track. Lang asked NASCAR if this was true and was told: "The 48 and 5 were brought back to the R&D center. We've been doing this since the inception of the new car as a part of routine post-race inspection. We bring the winner and a random pick back to the R&D center after each event. While both cars passed post race inspection, we informed the 48 and 5 they were extremely close on some of the tolerances."(10-1-2009) UPDATE Word circulated Wednesday night that NASCAR had found issues with the #48 Chevy as well as the #5 Chevy during inspection at the Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C. The two Hendrick Motorsports teams currently sit atop the points standings. The buzz within the NASCAR community suggests that the offset on the tail, which helps the rear of the car stick to the ground instead of spinning out, of the #5 Kellogg's Chevy just made the tolerance. NASCAR allows a tolerance of 0.070 of an inch for the body off of the center line of the car. Suffice it to say, JJ's #48 car didn't make it. But by how much? NASCAR claims it was .006 over the tolerance. That's about the thickness of two sheets of copier paper. Others in the garage hint at a charitable disposition on the part of the sanctioning body. So how did NASCAR view the situation with the Hendrick cars? "The 48 and 5 were brought back to the (Research and Development Center)," according to a NASCAR statement. "We've been doing this since the inception of the new car as a part of routine post-race inspection. We bring the winner and a random pick back to the R&D Center after each event. While both cars passed postrace inspection, we informed the 48 and 5 they were extremely close on some of the tolerances."(in part from FoxSports)(10-2-2009) UPDATE2: NASCAR has warned Hendrick Motorsports that the cars of Jimmie Johnson and Mark Martin came very close to failing post-race inspection following their 1-2 finish at Dover last week. The two Chevrolets owned by Hendrick Motorsports came within less than an inch of surpassing the tolerated measurements on the body of their cars. Martin is currently leading the points, and three-time defending series champion Johnson is second in the standings. The crew chiefs for both drivers say they weren't cheating, and in-race damage may have caused the cars to creep toward the maximum allowances. NASCAR is not penalizing either team, but they have been warned.(Associated Press)(10-2-2009) ANYONE GETTING TIRED OF THAT 48 TEAM CHEATING???? Another tainted year with the 48 team! Now it's overflowing into the 5 team!
Chad Knaus cheating again??? Martin's team too?
I was listening to a question and answer session with Mark Martin right after he won in Loudon last weekend and toward the end Mr. Martin said something about 'being beat up and run out of town' in the past and how that has added to his current good attitude toward racing and his opportunity to race for Hendrick Motorsports...can a long time NASCAR historian tell me what is Mr. Martin referring to? THANKS!
Long term NASCAR fans...can you explain something about Mark Martin to me?
