I started liking Dale Jr when I started watching NASCAR a couple of years ago. However, since I've been a fan he really has not done that well. It seems to be a different excuse every week. Theresa, Tires, Crew Chief, Bad Cars, Bad Engines, Bad rules. It does not seem to matter whether it is with DEI or Hendrick, he uses the same excuses, and blames everyone else except himself. I became a fan of his after seeing his image, commercials, and poster's everywhere. I assumed this guy must be the "best driver." Now it appears this is mostly because of his dad and last name. Does anyone else think that Junior is "Over-Hyped?"

Do you think that Dale Jr's team isn't as good as the rest of the Hendrick cars yet, because its a newer team. Are they not building as good of cars, engines, chassis, etc? What can they do to get back in the chase this year and allow Dale Jr to show that he is still a top notch driver?

This week's press release from Rick Hendrick reported that he was going to make Junior "priority one," does this mean he is going to order his other drivers to "lay down, block, and push" for Dale Earnhardt Jr to assure Dale Jr wins a championship in 2010? Also what if anything do the sponsors "Lowe's, Du-Pont, and Car Quest," have to say about their drivers being used as Rick and Jr's "Pawns?" Personally I don't think major sporting events should be "fixed," in this manner, JMO

I won the Daytona 500 in an even numbered year. My car has 2 digits. I race for Hendrick Motorsports. I have been the subject of quite a few questions on Y!A that are negative towards me. My crew chief was suspended for 6 races in 2007. I won more than 5 races in 2004. I have never won on a road course in NSCS. I caused a big wreck at Daytona or Talladega in an odd numbered year. My crew chief has a "C" in his first name and 2 vowels in his last name. I was involved in a big wreck this year. I wrecked in both road course races. One caused by Carl Edwards and one from a parts failure. Who am I?

Seriously, at Hendrick his teammates win championships. The finish 1,2,3 in the championship. Dale jr in the same equipment can't break the top 20. That begs the question how good were DEI cars when Dale jr won races in them? God knows it wasn't the driver so it must have been the car.Wedge, at least you got the point of the question. I don't agree with you, I think Jr is overrated, and moving to a top tier team as really shown it. My point is maybe the old DEI cars were better than third behind Hendrick and RCR. Maybe it was their drivers that were third rate. He, Jr was always supposed to be a top tier driver on an inferior team. Well moving to Hendrick has shown that he can't hack it with his teammates. he's had two years to adjust and we are still making excuses for him. Sr didn't need excuses.

Jeff Gordon to stay full-time another few years: #24-Jeff Gordon will drive through at least the 2013 season for Hendrick Motorsports, team owner Rick Hendrick said Friday. There has been speculation that Gordon, who has a lifetime deal with HMS, will retire within the next couple of years. The speculation arose in part because of Gordon's back problems and in part because he wants to spend more time with his family. "He's committed to at least 2013, maybe 2014," Hendrick said. "I'm hoping he's going to drive a bunch of more years. We know it's going to be at least three or four." Hendrick said he's also negotiating a new deal with DuPont, the primary sponsor on Gordon's car since he entered the Sprint Cup Series in 1992. DuPont's contract is due to expire in 2010 and Hendrick said the company will remain on the #24 at least for a good portion of the races through the end of Gordon's career
