Can someone with help me with this Math Theorem?
Specifically, can you have any kind of Bachelors degree, and obtain a Masters later to be a HS guidance counselor? Or do you have to have a specific degree in relation to counseling such as psychology? I am currently a student at an university in Texas, and I plan to graduate with a BS in Chemistry with the teaching option (in order to obtain my Teacher's certification to teach 8-12 in any science). I know for a fact that you need to have at least 2 years of teaching experience, a passing score on the TeXes exam for counseling, and a M. Ed. in Counseling to be a HS guidance counselor, but I want specifics on the bachelors.
Do you have to have a specific degree to be a high school guidance counselor?
I am going to be subbing for elm. level in Texas. I have never taught before. I have a Bachelors degree in Social Work but then decided I wanted to teach. I took an alternative certification course and passed the TExES exam. I didn't secure a teaching job for 2008-2009 and I lack experience. This is why I am subbing, to gain experience for next year when I apply for teaching positions. I will begin to sub sometime in Oct. I am very nervous. I did good in college and think if I can handle that, then this might be ok as far as subject content goes. Has anyone else subbed or gone from one career to teaching and felt like maybe you weren't knowledgeable enough? I feel as if I may not know the material even though there will be a lesson plan to follow provided by the teacher. The closest I have come to teaching is during my internship. I facilitated a drug prevention program to young kids and teens. I followed a curriculum that was provided by TACDA Any advice?thanks Roy! David- HUH? What did that have to do with what I asked?I have a regular job during the day. So it wouldn't be possible to observe on the days I don't sub. Nice thought though. My boss is already gonna work with my schedule when the days I do sub, so... And yes, I know about classroom management. I took the alt. certification course and that was discussed a lot. How do I answer these Math problems?
I am going to be a substitute teacher this upcoming year in a couple of districts. I am going to be going to get my masters in the spring to hopefully become a school counselor, so I need to become a teacher for 2 years before I can start as a school counselor. If I sub for a semester and pass my TEXES content exam, do you think I can get a teaching job in the spring time (for middle school science)? How likely is it to get teaching jobs in January for that semester? How long do you have to be a sub to be a teacher? Any help would be great, thanks!
