Obama supporters, what can you say to assure me that General Petreaus will not lose his job? General Petreaus is a true American hero who has served his nation well, but after the horrific attack on him with the whole General Be-trayus bull (Created by Obama supporting groups) and the fact that Obama did not condemn this act, which defaced the General and all those fighting in Iraq! I'm fearful what a President Obama would do to General Petreaus? Also, i felt that Obama didn't listen to Pertraeus when he was at cogress making his report, and wonder what a President Obama would do, when Pertraeus and other Generals tell him the situation, will he listen to them?

I'm a Democrat living in a small town that has a majority Republican population of about 65/35. I've never before put a sign on my lawn endorsing any particular candidate but, this year I'm excited about the prospect of having Obama as our President so I did. It lasted 2 days before it was run over. I put another one up and it disappeared later that week. Somebody wrote to our local paper complaining of the same thing happening to them and a couple of their neighbors. Is this happening all over the country and if so, what do you make of it? I haven't seen or heard of any Republican candidate signs being treated this way in my community.. Thank you all for answering. .

Yes, believe it or not, the United States has an official code of conduct on how to treat the flag: where to fly the flag, when to fly the flag, how to fly the flag, how to fold the flag, the proper way to destroy a defaced flag, how to wear the flag, bake the flag into a cake, autograph a flag, etc, etc, etc... It's not a binding law, mind you (the First Amendment trumps it), just the code of conduct Congress adopted oh-so-long-ago as the standard for how the United States Flag should be treated. Still, we have an official standard our government honors (such as the President ordering flags to be flown at half-mast to express national mourning). So I'm curious, since I haven't heard anyone else mention it in light of the matter... does anyone else know what our Flag Code has to say about things like the flag pins and what people are supposed to do during the national anthem?To respond... Mayberry-- Like all things Congressional, the Flag Code can be a bit "thick". However, it says everyone "in uniform" (military uniform, basically) should come to proper military salute for the duration of the anthem. All other citizens should place their right hand over their heart, and all men wearing hats should remove them with their right hand and hold it at their left shoulder so their right hand covers their heart (dee has the custom right, but the directions reversed).Honest Rob-- Actually, the official standard for what does and doesn't constitute a flag is: "The words 'flag, standard, colors, or ensign', as used herein, shall include any flag, standard, colors, ensign, or any picture or representation of either, or of any part or parts of either, made of any substance or represented on any substance, of any size evidently purporting to be either of said flag, standard, colors, or ensign of the United States of America or a picture or a representation of either, upon which shall be shown the colors, the stars and the stripes, in any number of either thereof, or of any part or parts of either, by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag, colors, standard, or ensign of the United States of America." Have seen folks in Texas that are flying the Mexico flag in their yard, & one is flying above our country's flag. I thought it is illegal to fly another country's flag in ours; & why isn't Obama in trouble for defacing our national seal? Is our government so corrupt they won't do anything for disgracing our flag or our U. S. President's seal? I feel they must be getting kick backs in some way, or just gutless or lilly livered to do anything that might cause waves. What do ya'll think?

Im of Haitian descent and I realize that the Haitians never get the respect they deserve from other nations. We help Simon Bolivar free south america in the 1820's and when some of our people started moving there we were accused of creating a black republic. In 1825 France robbed us of $21 billion and when we ask for it back in 2004 the U.S. and France kidnapped the president and sent him to exhile. In 1877 when Haiti was funding a slave rebellion in Cuba, Spanish navy sailed to our capitol and started bombing it. We help the Dominicans defeat the Spanish for their "Restoration" and they repay us by inciting "anti-Haitianism" in their country. when we could not pay our debt to Germany, they sent soldiers to threaten us and defaced our flag with there feces. When Haitian rebels tried to end the U.S. occupation in the 20's they killed all of them, Crucifixion style, and put them on display. Why cant we get a break people. Please tell me!!!!

Why is it that the only bad thing you hear about Bill Clinton is that he had a sexual act and then tried to cover it up?? What the heck does that have to do with him as a President??
