FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots have re-signed veteran wide receiver David Patten, a key offensive contributor in the early part of the last decade when the team won three Super Bowls.
Ok Obama supporters, who's lying here?
Look to the future. Think about who your club would sign, who will make the step-up from the Toyota Cup, who would retire, who's contracts will end. Also think about things like the salary cap (you can't have too many good players, can you). My team (The Bulldogs) for 2011. 1. Luke Patten (still under contract)/Brent Crisp 2. Bryson Goodwin 3. Josh Morris (still under contract) 4. Jamal Idris 5. Steve Turner (still under contract) 6. Ben Roberts/Ben Barba 7. JT (His current contract ends the same year as Noddy's. Plus, JT and Kevin Moore go way back. We have a good shot at signing him). Otherwise, it'll be Barba at 5/8 and Roberts at halfback. 8. Ben Hannant (still under contract) 9. Michael Ennis (still under contract) 10. John Kite 11. Greg Eastwood (still under contract) 12. Andrew Ryan (still under contract) 13. David StaggNoddy is leaving, so that would leave a big hole in our salary cap. Throw in some big third-party contracts and it might be enough to sign JT. The NRL will blow a fuse if they can't keep Thurston.
What will your team look like in a couple of years?
Obama Health Plan to Cover 12 Million Illegals Sunday, July 19, 2009 6:32 PM By: David A. Patten Article Font Size On Friday, Democrats moved one step closer to giving free health insurance to the nation's estimated 12 million illegal aliens when they successfully defeated a Republican-backed amendment, offered by Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., that would have prevented illegal aliens from receiving government-subsidized health care under the proposed plan backed by House Democrats and President Barack Obama. The House Ways and Means Committee nixed the Heller amendment by a 26-to-15 vote along straight party lines, and followed this action by passing the 1,018-page bill early Friday morning by a 23-to-18 margin, with three Democrats voting against the plan. The Democratic plan will embrace Obama's vision of bringing free government medical care to more than 45 million uninsured people in America – a significant portion of whom are illegal aliens. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, costs under the Obama plan being proposed by the House will saddle citizens with $1.04 trillion in new federal outlays over the next decade. Congressional Democrats and Obama have argued that their health plan is necessary to contain rising health care costs. But, last Thursday, CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf testified before the Senate Budget Committee and warned lawmakers that the proposed “legislation significantly expands the federal responsibility for health care costs." A key factor increasing costs is that Democratic plan provides for blanket coverage to as much as 15 percent of the U.S. population not currently insured, including illegals. Democrats had insisted throughout the health-care reform debate that illegals would be ineligible for the so-called public option plan that is to be subsidized by taxpayers. "We're not going to cover undocumented aliens, undocumented workers," Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, told reporters in May. "That's too politically explosive." Republicans, however, point out that the Democrats, by refusing to accept the Heller amendment, would deny health agencies from conducting simple database checks to verify citizenship. Many states give illegals driver licenses, which will be sufficient to get free health care under the plan. Critics also contend that millions of illegals who already have counterfeit Social Security cards or other fraudulent documents. There is no enforcement mechanism in the legislation, experts say, to prevent illegals who use fake IDs to obtain jobs from also obtaining taxpayer-subsidized health insurance. GOP representatives introduced the amendment to provide a way to weed out non-citizens from the program. A description of the amendment on Heller's Web site state it would "better screen applicants for subsidized health care to ensure they are actually citizens or otherwise entitled to it." The Web post added, "The underlying bill is insufficient for the purpose of preventing illegal aliens from accessing the bill's proposed benefits, as it does not provide mechanisms allowing those administering the program to ensure illegal aliens cannot access taxpayer-funded subsidies and benefits." The Heller amendment would have required that individuals applying for the public health care option would be subject to two systems used to verify immigration status already in use by the government: The Income and Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) and the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program. The two systems cross-reference Social Security numbers and employment information to establish whether an individual is a U.S. citizen. Critics: Free Health Care Means More Illegals A recent Rasmussen Reports poll found that an overwhelming 80 percent of Americans oppose covering illegals in any public health care bill. Anti-immigration activists say the availability of low-cost benefits, including health insurance and in-state tuition, will only lure more immigrants to come to the United States. Political analyst Dick Morris, in his recently released best-selling book “Catastrophe”, warns that giving illegal free health care will lead to a flood of new illegals who can take advantage of such a benefit not offered in their home countries. William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration, agrees with that sentiment, writing, "Each state and federal elected official must know that illegal aliens should not be given licenses, in-state tuition, mortgages, bank accounts, welfare, or any other benefit short of emergency medical care and law enforcement accommodations before they are deported." But a small fraction of illegals end up deported, as many make widespread use of fake IDs to easily gain access to government benefits programs. "Experts suggest that approximately 75 percent of working-age illegal aliens use fraudulent
Is this absolutely nuts or what? Thanks 0bama?
I've always wondered why so many people refer to Brady as a "system quarterback" when he never really had an decent receivers to throw to until 2007. Yeah the guy never eclipsed 30 touchdowns with the likes of Troy Brown, Deion Branch, and David Patten to throw to, but he won games, and lets not forget the year he shredded defenses with Reche Caldwell of all people. Matt Cassel stepped into his shoes last season and did quite well thus leading to even more criticism on Brady, but lets not forget he was throwing to Moss, Welker, and Gaffney. So what do you think, is he a system quarterback, or just that good? Please explain your answer.
Tom Brady, system quarterback or no?
some guy offered me braylon edwards and chad ochocinco for marion barber and david patten, thats a pretty acceptable trade i think
should i accept this trade?
Rate my team on a scale from 1-10 QB Brady Quinn Derek Anderson Brett Ratliffe RB Jamal Lewis Jerome Harrison James Davis WR Braylon Edwards Syndric Steptoe David Patten Joshua Cribbs Jordan Norwood TE Steve Heiden Robert Royal K Phil Dawson DEF Browns Are there any areas for improvement? You the man 2 legit
I did a yahoo mock draft, how does my team look?
People say that Manning really had no receivers just like Brady did. Brady had David Givens and David Patten and Deion Branch And Manning had Harrison, Pollard, Stokley But one Key missing is that Patriots had Kevin Faulk and Corey Dillion and manning had a guy just by the name of EDGE JAMES!!!!! I think that pretty much settles any arguements that manning had it worse than brady
Who is the better QB? Peyton Manning or Tom Brady?
People say Brady had bad receivers while Manning has always been well stocked. Well if you are a patriots fan that agrees with that, you are in for a rude awakening. MANNING'S WEAPONS: He has always had Marvin, sure, but how was Marvin before he had Peyton? He averaged 68 catches for 851 yards and 7 tds. He was good, but with Manning, he unleashed himself. Then, you talk about reggie. in his first four years he averaged 55 catches 777 yards and a little over five touchdowns. After that, Manning had two years of two great recievers, then marvin went down and manning was back down to one. Then marvin came back and sucked, and manning still had one great reciever. Manning's best tight end before Clark? Marcus Pollard. from 98-02, the years that pollard was the starting tight end without clark he averaged 35 catches for 468 yards for five touchdowns. Jerome Pathon, Manning's third reciever in his early years averaged 34 catches for 412 yards and 1.5 touchdowns. Dallas Clark has been great the last two seasons, but what was he before that? Back when Manning was throwing to other guys (such as pollard, stokely, and more no-namers). He averaged 30 catches for 404 yards and about 3 tds. So that's what Manning has had most of his career. Other than Marvin, Number 18 has had just about no help. A little more than Brady? Yeah. A lot more than Brady? No. Manning took his one star receiver and built off of him, stacking up stats by spreading the ball around to no name wide receivers, a motley crew of tight ends and some running backs. Heck, he even made Edgerrin James a 60 catch receiver! You don't see that happening with Kurt Warner in Arizona do you? Don't tell me the Edge is old, he left Indiana after a 1500 yard season, he was at the top of his game. BRADY'S WEAPONS: Yeah, his were a little worse, but I would take a great defense and offensive line over a few more offensive toys. The first thing people say about Brady is, "who did he win his first superbowl with?" A bunch of no namers! right? WRONG. My answer to this question is usually along the lines of: "Well, lets begin with his top receiver that year. Troy Brown, he had 101 catches for 1199 yards and 5 touchdowns. Yeah, no big deal right?" Then, I begin talking about the other "no-namers" "If you don't think that's enough, he had David Patten. 51 catches for 750 yards and 4 touchdowns." Better than Manning so far? No. But it's not bad at all. Then, I say... "Oh, so you want the no-namers now? Okay, Jermaine Wiggins. He wasn't very impressive as far as receiving, but he managed 4 tds without a start, not a bad redzone target." So, you got a no namer! Yay! Umm, that makes how many? One. Now that we see Manning's weapons, although better than Brady, aren't that great. Let's move on to what ACTUALLY won those Superbowls. Defense. Even the colts won a superbowl because of a great kicker and some amazing defense. The pats defense picked off 18 passes that season, not amazing, but these guys knew how to get qb's off their game. They also managed 37 sacks. Not great, once again, but two sacks a game really puts the other team back. Then, you couple in 12 fumbles recovered, two touchdowns on returns, 113 points by the kicker, and one of the top third-down defenses in the playoffs. Let's make one more thing clear... I just named the stats for all of the defensive STARTERS and the offensive STARTERS. Backups don't do much, but the colts best safety this season was a backup, he had 4 picks. Let's even go back to what all of the patriots fans will say after this "Brady has more rings". Well, if Vanderjagt had made a 40+ yard field goal in the 2005 afc championship, manning would have two rings, just one behind brady.
yeah, i hate the patriot's fans. More about the receivers?
Poll: 80% Oppose Public Health Care For Illegals http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/healthcare_illegals_poll/2009/06/12/224592.html Friday, June 12, 2009 2:16 PM By: David A. Patten Article Font Size An overwhelming 80 percent of U.S. voters oppose proposals for government-backed health-care plans for illegal immigrants, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll released Friday. That compares to only 11 percent who think providing illegal workers with a government health-care plan is a good idea. The strong opposition to health-care coverage for illegals, based on a national poll of 1,000 likely voters, comes amidst ongoing negotiations over the proposed health-care reform package now working its way through Congress. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, over 10 million illegal immigrants in the United States lack health insurance. That's about 22 percent of the 46 million people in America who are without insurance. American voters continue to strongly favor the idea that all Americans should have quality health-care coverage, however. Sixty-five percent say that every American should have access to quality health care. Only 22 percent disagree. Support for providing health-care coverage for illegals is sharply divided along party lines. According to Rasmussen, nine out of 10 likely voters who describe themselves as conservative are against granting health-care coverage to illegals. About half of those who identify themselves as liberal think providing health-care to undocumented workers is a good idea. © 2009 Newsmax. All rights reserved.
